Honda Siel Cars India has launched a facelifted CR-V. This well-liked Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is equipped with a re-sculpted hood, new two-step front grille, a re-sculpted hood, a new front bumper design and an oval shape fog lamp.
It also has new rear bumper that accentuates the stability of the car.
The new CR-V is 45 mm longer than the previous model but maintains the
same width, height, ground clearance and head clearance. The existing
7-spoke alloy wheel design is replaced by a new sleek 10-spoke alloy wheel design and gives the SUV a more sporty look.
The Honda CR-V will be available in 2.0 L MT 2WD, 2.4L MT Real-time 4WD
and 2.4L AT Real-time 4WD, but the 2.4 L models now come with a
steering-mounted Cruise Control system with illuminated controls that guarantee comfort and convenience for the customer with one-touch operation.
The interior of the Honda CR-V has also received changes. The overall
interior colour scheme has been brightened. The centrally located LCD
meter display is now blue in colour, the vanity mirror has light to
assist visibility during darkness. The music system of the SUV now features a new USB port in the upper glove compartment.
The safety features have also been upgraded. It now has Dual SRS Airbags, six airbags, Side-Curtain airbags and Side Airbags with Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS).
The 2.0L MT version is priced at Rs. 21,92,000, the 2.4L MT at Rs.
23,37,000 and the top-end model 2.4L AT comes for Rs. 24,12,000 (all
prices, ex showroom New Delhi).
Finally, we can expect that Hyundai’s SUV, Santa Fe, will be launched in India. Yes, Hyundai has been announcing the launch of the SUV in India since a long time now. The growing demand of SUV’s in India can be a reason why Hyundai might have seriously thought about the launch. For the past few months there have been an increasing number of SUVs launches in India.
Premier RiO is a very recent example of this.
Apart from Santa Fe, Hyundai also has plans of bringing a small car to India by 2011. This new small car will be an 800cc car.
Santa Fe is expected to be launched petrol as well as diesel models in the Indian car market. It will be available in 2.7-litre petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine. We still don’t know the pricing of Hyundai Santa Fe. Anyways this new model from Hyundai is sure to create a tough competition for Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, and Chevrolet Captiva.
Premier Ltd. has now introduced launched its first ever sport-utility vehicle model. The new model from Premier is an SUV. It is christened RiO. Premier will partner with China's Zotye Holding Group for manufacturing this new SUV.
Premier was once a famous car manufacturer of India and has produced the famous Indian car, Premier Padmini.
RiO has a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine RiO and Premier will import it from Zotye. RiO will be assembled at its factory in Pune.
Premier RiO has a first-generation Daihatsu Terios foundation. And it is powered by Premier’s own engine that is principally a downsized Peugeot TUD5 diesel engine. The 1490cc engine RiO delivers a 65 bhp of peak power.
Premier is taking all the needed steps that RiO will meet the new emission norms of the government that will be effective from April 1, 2010.
The company is expected to start delivering RiO in the month of December. It was expected that theat the mini SUV will be launched during Diwali.
The RiO will be available in three variants, the EX, priced at Rs 5.25 lakh, the DX at Rs 5.50 lakh, and LX at Rs 5.95 lakh.
German luxury car maker Audi, has been quite a hit with the Mumbai’s film-star community. With clients like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Bipasha Basu in Audi’s sales book, Audi now is looking at a 50 per cent growth in India this year.
Martin Birkner, marketing head of Audi in India is quite ecstatic that Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Amitabh Bachchan amongst others have had an Audi car parked in their garage. Though he knows it very well that Bollywood stars are not the only clients who own an Audi, which makes a difference, he still vouches that Mumbai filmdom is still an important market for Audi as it gives that extra boost for Audi’s market in India.
Salman Khan is the latest star who bought an Audi A8 for himself, while Neil Nitin Mukesh owns Q7, a recently launched SUV by Audi. Audi Q7 can cost anything from Rs.63 lakhs to Rs.76 lakhs while an Audi A8 starts from Rs 71 lakhs and can go up to Rs 1 crore in India. Amongst the popular actresses Bipasha and Katrina have pampered themselves with the luxury vehicles from the brand.
The company currently offers a bouquet of seven cars, including sedans, SUVs, coupe and sports cars. It is considering launching more models in the coming years.
To promote the brand, Audi India has been partnering with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) for the last four seasons.
Birkner, who has come from Mumbai to attend the event, said WIFW provides an ideal platform for them to meet “right and influential” people who can become potential buyers.
“Such events provide a perfect platform to meet people who are interested in premium cars. So we get a chance to build the right contacts here,” he said.
Earlier this month, Audi organised an amateur golf tournament called Quattro Cup. This was the second tournament sponsored by the company and the finals were held in Hyderabad and the winners will be taken to Sydney in December.
Premier Automobiles Limited will be launching a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Premier Auto is returning to the Indian automobile sector after nine long years. And the company is planning to make its comeback huge.
This compact SUV will mark the entry of Zotye Auto, a Chinese four-wheeler company, into the Indian automobile industry. And this is the first time that a Chinese automobile maker tying up with an Indian car manufacturer. Zotye will collaborate with Premier in the project.
Zotye Auto will provide vehicle kits to Premier that will be assembled at Premier’s Pune facility. Completely knocked down (CKD) kits from China will be imported to India by Zotye, for which it will be paid by Premier. And a diesel powerplant for the vehicle will be provided by Premier.
The SUV will be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5Ldiesel engine that has a 5-speed manual gearbox. And the SUV will have rear-wheel drive.
Rio or Terra is the name options for this mini SUV. The base variant of the mini-SUV will be priced at Rs 5 lakh and the top-end variant is likely to be priced at around Rs 7 lakh.
Nissan launched its new Teana and X-trial. Both the models after the facelift look exuberant. The new Teana has bigger front grilles that give a 3-D image, the integrated fog lamps on the bumpers, and the exterior mirror contours. The Teana stands tall on 17-inch alloy wheels. The new Nissan Teana sports has retractable glass sunroof with UV protection. The stylish interior has wood finish with supple leather seats, sofa-like armrests, wood grain trim and cosseting leg-rest to support the lower legs.
The 2.5-litre V6 DOHC engine is that can churn out a power of 180bhp. Teana will be available in two variants in India. The 2.5XL variant has a price tag of Rs. 21,03,000 and the 2.5XV is priced at Rs. 25,40,000 (Ex showroom, New Delhi)

LT, SLX and SLX are the three editions X-trial will be available in. The LT and SLX has a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox and the SLX AT comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The new X-Trail is available at a price of Rs 20.81 Lakh for the LT, Rs 23.18 Lakh for the SLX variant, and Rs 25.08 Lakh for the SLX AT (Ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Ford has unveiled its SUV, throughout the country in a phased manner, with a new look. The new design elements in the car are chrome-accented lower grille combining with wraparound headlamps and new-look front design with a multi-bar chrome grille.
The new Ford Endeavour has a contemporary style and is in two variants namely the 2.5-liter (offered with 4x2) Duratorq TDCi and the 3.0-litre (offered with 4x4) Duratorq TDCi common-rail engines. The SUV has a 16-inch alloy wheel is fitted with 245/70r16 tyres are new. There are even added features in the side mirrors.
The new Endeavour is priced at Rs. 17.99 lakh for the 3.0-litre 4X4 automatic transmission and Rs. 15.99 lakh for the 2.5-litre 4X2 manual transmission variant (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
Toyota Land Cruiser diesel is all ready to join hands with its sibling in India, and the long wait comes to an end for the car lovers in India. The diesel variant of Land Cruiser Prado will be launched in India today, June 9th. It is a proud moment for Toyota as this showcases the stable situation of the company in the market, which is an apt act at this period of time, when most companies are showing their strength with new launches and re-launches.
Powered with a 4.5-litre V8 engine, Toyota Land Cruiser will have better fuel efficiency compared to its petrol variant. “The ladder on chassis design” will be the key to an improved off-road performance of the car. India is an Eden for automobile brands, and the year 2009 will see many new car launches, and Land Cruiser will compete with Audi Q7, Audi Q5, Mercedes M-class to create a firm position in the Indian car market. Prado will be imported to the Indian markets from Japan and will be available at a price not more than Rs 50 Lakh.
The competition in the car segment is growing really and just like in any other segment the SUV segment is heating up too. The car manufacturers are either adding a new variant or are upgrading the existing SUV with extra style, features and sometime with a different engine too.
Ford too shares the similar thinking and plans to introduce the face lifted version of Endeavour very soon. The new version of the SUV will be seen with all new chrome grille and redesigned headlights. Looks like Ford is setting is Endeavour all ready and powerful for the Toyota Fortuner which will make its debut in the Indian car market very soon.
Though there are no specific details about the revamped edition of the SUV but it is expected to replace the indirect injection engine with the CRDi engine with an output of 143bhp. The new Endeavour would also get a new 5 speed automatic transmission system against the new 5 speed manual transmission which is currently equipped in the existing Endeavour in India.
The exterior and the interior too will be seen with the subtle changes that will add an extra appeal to the SUV. Endeavour is the perfect off roader that shines on the Indian roads. Hope with all new looks and features Endeavour once again will lead the SUV segment.
Here is the good news for the SUV lovers. Very soon the Indian car market will get to see the all new version of Pajero from Mitsubishi Motors. Just like Toyota Fortuner, even the Pajero is based on a truck called Triton.
Mitsubishi Pajero looks great in its new version with aggressive front fascia, well designed cues and the strong body structure. The interior is also a complimented well which offers comfort, convenience, and luxury similar to that of striking looking Outlander.
The upgraded version of Pajero will come with a choice of two diesel engines which will be powered by a 3.2-litre engine with an output of 165 bhp and a 2.5-litre engine that delivers 140 bhp. The engine will be mated with the Triptonic-like INVECS-II automatic transmission. It also flaunts with super select four wheel drive system.
