The Ritz is known as Splash in Europe as is now making inroads to the Indian car market. With the launch of Ritz in India, Maruti Suzuki desires to add one more small and global car to its portfolio.
Ritz will mainly cater to the needs and demands of small urban families with its compact size, impressive fuel efficiency, and powerful technologies. The car will be rolled out in both petrol and diesel variants with the petrol version powered by 1.2-litre KB series engine and the diesel version driven by the 1.3-litre multijet engine. Further to that the car will be mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and offers easy and smooth maneuverability.
The car will coexist with the ageing WagonR platform but will be introduced with the bets of technologies. In India, the Ritz is speculated to be launched by the end of May and will compete with leading hatchbacks like Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia, Fiat Palio, and Tata Indica Vista.

a German company in the country, Volkswagen has claimed.

For Volkswagen, the new production facility, 61st in the worldwide production network, is a major stepping stone towards achieving its ambitious growth targets on the Indian subcontinent.
Volkswagen has been manufacturing Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi models from its Aurangabad plant since 2001. The company is likely to employ as many as 2,500 people for the Pune plant. Besides, it is said to be investing in the Indian supplier industry and expanding its dealer network across the country.
