The global car industry is experiencing a slow down but Indian car industry seems to be on a roll. There are speculations that in the next five years the Indian car market will witness the launch of a million new cars.
India is believed to be one of the fastest growing market in the world and is expected to reach 2.6 million in the next 5 five years. And a car like Nano that has brought a new revolution in the auto industry is sure to foster the Indian market.
These figures and speculations are not just in air. Even the international research organization, J. D. Power Asia has predicted that the Indian passenger car market would reach about 2 million by 2010. With such a promising growth India will soon take over China and U.S. in the auto sector.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a limited edition of the E-Class with a powerful 3.0-litre engine that generates more power than the existing E-Class. The car manufacturer would only produce 192 cars with a price tag of Rs 43.4 Lakh.

What keeps us amazed is why Mercedes-Benz thought of introducing a limited edition of the E-Class when the company is already set to roll out a new upgraded variant of the same soon. Maybe it’s only a marketing stunt for Mercedes, maybe the car manufacturer is trying to build a stronger platform for the new E-Class and want to completely phase out the older variant. Since its debut in the Indian car market, Toyota Innova has been a leading MPV with almost 160,000 cars sold out till date. Now, the facelifted version of the car is speculated to increase the worth and demand of the car in the market. And meeting the desires of the car buyers, the car will definitely compete with others sharing the segment.
There's not much change in the car except a new front fascia adorned with a new grille, sloping bumpers, clustered headlamps, and new taillights. Foreign car manufactures cheers up this new year with all new amended export policy. The Indian Ministry of Commerce renewed its existing export policy giving a ease to the foreign car manufacturers. Earlier the the export policy allowed the foreign car manufacturers to strictly export from the country of production. But now the new car can be exported to India irrespective of its place of production.
The elasticity of the policy will allow the export process to be much simpler. The catch is that policy is implemented only for the new cars with the free on value (f.o.b) value of Rs 1.9 million or more and also the engine capacity of more than 3,000cc for the petrol version and 2,500cc for the diesel version.
The prior policy which was implemented n the Exim Policy for 2001-02 was unfriendly to a certain extent and created a lot of exporting issues. The new policy will now help the car manufacturers hailing from the inland countries.
The 2008 financial crunch has given a tough time to the the Indian car industry. The problems like low sales, production cut were the after effect of the crisis. Most of the car manufacturers even postponed the new car launch as the success of the model involved higher risk.
The new car sales were affected in big way but the used car market seemed to experience a good growth. The used car market sales were slow during the normal market condition but surprisingly received a positive response during the current global crisis. Maruti True Value saw a growth of nearly 30 percent, when the new car sales went down..
The used cars are in great demand and buyers opt used car over the new one as a part of safer investment. With certified cars by the authorised dealers, people are now more confident with the used car buy. There is also possibility of the the demand of new cars going further down with the price hike which is expected this January.
