Ultimate Aero is the world’s fastest car and it is expected at Aero will be available in the Indian car market very soon. The Ultimate Aero has half the speed of a jetliner cruising at 30,000 ft. With a price tag of Rs. 6 crore, the Aero will not only be the fastest car but will also be the car which carries the highest price tag in India .
A US-based company, Shelby Super Car (SSC) is the manufacturer of Aero. The company will launch the car in Mumbai and then in New Delhi. Aero was previously launched in the United States and Russia, and India will be the third market where this fastest car will be sold. The car has a recorded speed of 413 kilometres per hour (257 mph).
In US, where Aero is manufactured, the car costs $654,400 (more than Rs 3 crore). But in India because of the high import duty, it will be priced double the amount. Currently, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach is the costliest car in India, which is priced at Rs 5 crore, but now Aero is top in the list.
Toyota and Honda Motors, two Japanese carmakers, have requested the Indian government to transform the standards of classifying small car. And this is because of that the small cars have low tax compared to other car segments. Both the car manufacturers have said that emission norms, passenger safety, and fuel efficiency should be used to classify a car into a small or large car.
Toyota and Honda are both very renowned carmakers of the country and their opinions are expected be viewed seriously by the Indian government. Currently, under the government policy, a car with the length of 4-metre length and has a 1,200 cc petrol or 1,500 cc diesel engine has a lower 8% excise duty compared to 20% duty and there will be an additional Rs 15,000 levied in case of any other cars manufactured in India.
It is also interesting to note that both the companies, Toyota and Honda, are launching small cars in the near future
Toyota Fortuner was launched in the Indian car market on August 24th and it received a very warm welcome from the Indian car lovers. The booking of the car extended the actual number of units that is been allotted for the country. And it seems that this acceptance by the Indian customers has rooted a new thought in the company’s mind.
The company is planning to expand its business in the country which they think is essential to compete with the growing demands in the Indian car industry. And as a part of its expanding plans the company is looking to expand its dealership network in the country. And Toyota is planning to open more outlets, around 150 outlets by 2010.
The company is expecting to increase its business base in India in the next few years. The company is also planning to launch a new small car by 2011. And all of this will be helped with the emerging dealerships of the company.
The segment that benefits most from the proposals of the 2009-2010 Budget, among the Indian automakers, is the big cars. A number of car manufacturers are now offering their big cars with a slashed price tag, committed to share with the customers, the benefits of the budget.
Last year’s budget had many beneficial proposals for the Indian small car sector but the big cars didn’t share the benefits. But things are very different this year, the government has reduced excise duty on big cars and has also cut down extra excise, by Rs 5000, duty on big cars that has 2,000cc and above as engine capacity.
The Indian car industry is now witnessing a lot of reduction offers from the car manufacturers. Companies such as Honda, which was not planning for a cut on prices of its models, even after the budget, is now up with new offers, to compete better in the market.
Ford, Hindustan Motors, Honda and Hyundai are among the companies that have already reduced the prices of its big car models. The offers from companies such as Toyota, Tata, BMW, GM India and GM India will be announced soon.
The price reduction of Rs 5,000 – Rs 6,000 does not make huge changes in the price of these big cars that are heavily priced.Global recession has affected the auto industry. Car manufacturer are working on different stratagies to attract the buyers and push the sales.
