When the government can reduces the excise duty on small cars then even luxury cars and small cars have all the rights to have some restructured tax plan. There is a speculation in car industry that there is possibility of prices of luxury cars and mid size cars coming down. It is said that these cars will see a price dip of up to Rs 50,000. There is no confirm news on this as the ministry of heavy industries is in talks with finance ministry to reduce the specific excise duty charged on mid-size and top-end cars last year.
Currently it is compulsory for the car’s engine sized between 1,500-2,000cc to pay an extra tax of Rs 15,000 and the vehicles above 2,000cc have to pay Rs 20,000. As the tax was enforced on ex-factory price of vehicles, the car manufacturers put the burden on the consumers in the form of sales tax and other taxes. But finally it is understood that such kind of tax structure that it does is not helping some particular segment.
Such unfriendly tax structure affected the sales it discouraged the consumers from buying cars like Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla. By calming down the tax structure, the price on these car segments will come down by Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 per car.

After the launch of the Honda Civic there has been a tough competition for Corolla. So with this new launch of Corolla it might again increase the sales.

Toyota seems to have come out with all that which will attract more buyers to their brand showrooms. However this dashing car might give a good competition to Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Octavia.
Hyundai seem to be happy as it has made excellent passenger car sales this month. The company has increased its sales by 28.2 % to 36,152 units in July 2008, against 28,204 units in the same month last year.
However the domestic car market sales determined a marginal growth of 0.4 % at 15,066 units in July, against that of 15,003 units in the same month last year.
The car manufacturer has sold 30,614 units of Santro, Getz and i10, 5,504 units of Accent and Verna, 28 units of Sonata Embera and 5 units of its SUV Tucson in the month of July.
Several auto companies sense that it has been a challenging month for the entire car industry with the pressures disturbing market sentiments like inflation, increase in interest rates and fuel prices.

75% of car sales by 2010.
